Post: Heels & Hellfire

It started like any other spring night in SoHo—moody skies, a sidewalk that shimmered with a fine mist of city grime, and the rhythmic click-clack of high heels slicing through the silence.

Jada was late. Fashionably, of course. The invite said rooftop gala, and her crimson patent leather stilettos—five inches high, razor-thin heels—were already drawing envy before she’d even made it past coat check. The plan? Sip champagne, snag a photo with that D-list actor from that streaming thing, and flirt with the designer whose shoes she was quite literally walking in.

But twenty minutes in, the mood shifted.

At first, it sounded like fireworks. A few dull pops from somewhere below. Then came the screams. Frantic. Animal. And before anyone could finish saying “security,” people were shoving toward the stairs like a dam had broken. Someone yelled, “Gun!” and the flood began.

Jada tried to move—but her stilettos betrayed her. On the first step, her heel caught on the metal edge. Crack. She lurched forward. The second heel gave out like a snapped twig. She hit the ground hard, a heel in each hand, mascara burning her eyes.

Someone grabbed her by the arm. A model she vaguely remembered from a perfume shoot months ago. “Take ’em off!” she shouted over the chaos.

But Jada was already ahead of her. Barefoot and bleeding, she bolted down the concrete stairwell, broken heels swinging like weapons in her fists.

The shooting? It wasn’t aimed at the party. A car chase had ended in gunfire just outside, but the panic spread like gasoline on silk. By the time the cops arrived, the party was abandoned—just torn gowns, shattered flutes, and a lone pair of broken red heels on the rooftop floor.

Dont’ get caught slipping

In a stampede or emergency, remove your heels immediately.
Whether stilettos, platforms, or wedges—they can trap you, trip you, or snap, leaving you vulnerable.

When to ditch the shoes:

  • If you’re in a crowd that begins running.

  • If you’re being chased or hear unexpected gunshots.

  • If your footwear reduces speed or agility (this includes open-toe strappy sandals).

Emergency Protocol:

  1. Step out fast—Don’t try to unbuckle. Step out or yank them off.

  2. Hold or drop—If you’re agile, carry them. If not, leave them.

  3. Prioritize safety over fashion—Always.

Because no pair of shoes is worth more than your life—even if they were Louboutins.
